The Good Samaritan.....Lesson Learned

Okay, so I kinda got into a little fender bender awhile back (kinda my fault...but whatever) and the insurance didn't cover the cost to fix my car because it was my fault...blah blah blah... So I've taken my car around to several shops to get estimates and the cheapest one was for about $1600....So yea it's been about three , four months and I still have this dent in my front fender...but hey the car is still drivable, just aesthetically, it's not a good look :-/...

I can remember the day of the accident, I kinda felt like something was going to happen. I even remember praying to God and just thanking Him for my car and a myraid of other things. Then about a hour later I got into a fender bender. Luckily, no one was hurt and both parties were able to drive away. So I'm thankful to God for that even moreso for allowing my car to still be "drivable".

So one sunny Friday afternoon, I'm in the drive thru at Wendy's about to pull off with my food, and there is this guy (maybe of latin descent) standing at the end of the drive thru. He tells me he could fix my car for 300 dollars and that he worked at a body repair shop. It sounded like a deal....I mean 300 vs 1600 dollars... I told him that I didn't have 300 at the moment, and if he would just give me his card then I would bring my car by the shop at a later date. He then said he would get the dent out for 60 dollars.... So I pull over and then seconds later this small little green corolla pulls up beside me with two of the guy's "workers". They get out and begin to work on my car(they did an awful job), and then I tell them I don't have 60 dollars and I would have to go to an atm. Then the guy says that it wasn't necessary, and asked if I could buy him and his two friend's some shoes.

He points to this little discount store ( the sign read $13.99 shoes) and me being stupid, nonclarivoyant, and Mr Good Samaritan I agreed. We walked into the store and these guys started shopping like it was Christmas! They put all these clothes and shoes on the register and then went back shopping in the store. So I ask the cashier how much was everything on the register so far, and the cashier responded $98....So then I tell the guys that it was too much, and that I was leaving. As I got in my car, they come out the store and tell me I need to pay them and I responded that I didn't have any money and pulled off ....

I'm aware that this was probably one of the most dumbest things I've done in life, because it could've turned out much differently. I mean there is nothing wrong with being a Good Samaritan, but I know now that I should have been/need to be more discerning of people. I could have really made the evening news, and at what cost? To save a couple hundred dollars????

Needless to say, I call it a Lesson Learned!

Alicia Keys-----I called it a lesson learned huh? I think there is something great about your good Samaritan nature, I just think you need a bit more training in who and when to give it to
